Payment
Credit or Bank Draft Authorization Agreement
I hereby authorize the Greater Washington Dance Center, LLC to charge my credit card or checking account for all services and products related to my family's enrollment in classes and activities at the Greater Washington Dance Center, LLC, including but not limited to tuition, memberships, special events, costumes, recital fees, accessories, etc. (Note: Fees are subject to change). If Annual tuition is submitted via monthly installments I understand that my credit or debit card will continue to be charged on the monthly, session or periodic basis unless I notify the front desk by turning in a withdrawal form at the Greater Washington Dance Center, LLC 30 days before intent to discontinue classes. I understand that it will not be sufficient notice to merely tell an instructor or supervisor, nor send an e-mail of our intent to discontinue. I have read this entire agreement and understand that I will be held fully responsible for its terms and conditions of service. I understand that once the monthly installments for my annual tuition have occurred there will be no refund given if I decide to discontinue classes. I agree to notify the Greater Washington Dance Center, LLC, immediately of any change of the status of my charge account including but not limited to card expiration, name change, limitation of use, loss of theft or the card, etc. In the event that the amount charged is refused for whatever reason, I accept responsibility for full payment for the amount charged as well as a NSF fee of $15.00.
Cancellation/Withdrawal Policy
We hate to see you go! As a courtesy, we require parent(s)/guardian(s) give a thirty (30) day written notice to the front desk of any intent to discontinue classes. Please email us via the online parent portal in the "contact" section. It is not sufficient notice to merely tell an instructor or supervisor or leave a voice-mail of your intent to discontinue. This is so we can invite the next child on the waiting list to join the class the following month. Your withdrawal is not considered complete until you have received confirmation via email.
Performance & Costume Fees
The annual Spring Recital will be held each June. This is an optional activity. Those choosing to participate are required to pay a costume/recital fee due in the month of February preceding the Spring Recital.
Costumes
The costume and recital fee is determined each January and is based on the actual costs the studio will incur to present the recital. The fee covers costumes, venue rental, programs, and teachers. All costume and recital fees are non-refundable. No child will receive a costume until fee is paid and tuition is current. Children joining the studio after February 15th may not be able to participate in the recital due to the inability to order costumes at that late date.
Schedule Changes (Dropping / Adding / Transferring Classes)
If it becomes necessary for you to drop a class or add a class, these changes must be made through your parent portal. If you add a class, it is assumed you wish to participate in the recital for that class. You will receive confirmation of your change once it has been received and your account has been updated. Do not consider requested changes effective until confirmation by email has been received. Please note that by verbally dropping; adding a class or discussing this change with instructors does not make the change official. You must drop the class(es) in the GWDC Parent Portal.
Please Note: NO REFUNDS will be given for classes not attended.
How Class Changes Effect Tuition
If you drop one class and add another, it is considered a schedule change and no charge is incurred unless the new class is a different length of time than the class being dropped. For example, if you were taking a 45 minute class and change to a one hour class, your tuition would increase from the fee for a 45 minute class to the fee for an hour class. Adding additional classes does not result in an additional registration fee.
Physical Contact in the Classroom
Teaching dance is a physical activity and appropriate physical contact between students and teachers in class is essential to a student's training and development. It is recognised that a level of physical contact exists in the day-to-day teaching of dance, as well as between students as part of the classes. An important part of dance training may require a teacher to physically touch a student to correct a student’s posture, placement of limbs or to guide a movement as in choreography, for example.
Our teachers are expected to use touch in a meaningful and direct way with appropriate contact and physical pressure. When appropriate, teachers will seek agreement with the student in advance for the use of touch to correct them. All physical contact will be done with sensitivity and care for the student. If a student refuses to be touched or indicates discomfort with touch, our teachers will refrain from correcting them with touch.
Automatic Enrollment
In order to give current students priority, all students are automatically enrolled in future seasons’ classes. This allows current students to be guaranteed a spot in our classes before new students register. Automatic enrollment applies to all seasons – school year and summer. You will be notified of automatic enrollment via email. Please make sure the email you placed on file is the correct email for these notifications. You will be given plenty of opportunities to opt out before tuition is charged. Once tuition has been charged, there will be no refunds.
Communication
We communicate primarily via email. Information regarding recital, future seasons’s classes, weather closures, holidays etc. are shared over email. Please make sure that the email address you have on file is correct. We thank you in advance for paying attention to the emails we send.
